Kimaï earns 3.7 out of 5 from us. We love its distinctive jewelry designs, but would choose it for a particular piece rather than for the cheapest diamond. Ask for the exact diamond details before ordering a ring, and be comfortable with the return restrictions.
The appeal of Kimaï has always been the design. Its open rings, unusual earrings and delicate chains look different from the rows of solitaire settings at a large diamond retailer. That was what first drew us to the brand, and it remains the strongest reason to consider it.
Our review also found high prices and frustrating gaps in diamond information. The picture is more balanced now: Kimaï has a bespoke service with diamond selection, and eligible returns have a longer window. Those improvements do not make it a low-cost jeweler, but they matter if you love its style.

Kimaï is a design-led fine-jewelry brand using lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold. Think of it as a place to find a ring or earring you have not seen everywhere else, rather than a catalog for sorting thousands of loose diamonds by price.

The history of Kimaï jewelry
Jessica Warch and Sidney Neuhaus founded Kimaï in 2018. Both came from Antwerp diamond families. The brand's combination of contemporary design and lab-grown stones offered a different direction from the traditional diamond trade.
What makes Kimaï special?
The best pieces use the whole setting, not just a large center diamond, to create their effect. Open spaces, curved gold and small diamonds are part of the design. You are paying for that composition and the workmanship, as well as the stones.

Is Kimaï jewelry legitimate?
Yes. Kimaï is an established fine-jewelry business with a London store and a recognizable design range. Our main concerns are value, access to diamond information and purchase flexibility, not whether it is a real jeweler.
Kimaï on Dragons' Den
The founders appeared on BBC's Dragons' Den in January 2024, where Steven Bartlett offered £250,000. The appearance brought more attention to their design-led approach to lab-grown diamond jewelry.
Lab-grown diamonds and sustainability
Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They have the same essential chemical composition and crystal structure as mined diamonds; their origin is different. They are not cubic zirconia or another lookalike.
Benefits of lab-grown diamonds
Lower diamond costs give designers more room to use larger or more numerous stones. For shoppers, that can mean more jewelry for the budget. It does not mean every piece containing lab-grown diamonds is inexpensive.
Recycled materials
Kimaï emphasizes recycled gold and explains the people and workshops behind its jewelry on its traceability page. We like seeing a brand explain how its pieces are made rather than relying only on a general ethical label.
Packaging
Reusable presentation boxes are another part of Kimaï's approach. A box you keep for storing the jewelry is more useful than packaging designed only for the unboxing.
What sustainability means here
Lab-grown stones avoid diamond mining, and recycled gold reduces the need for newly mined metal. These are positive features of Kimaï's approach. The energy used to grow diamonds and make and ship jewelry still matters, so renewable energy and traceable materials help build a fuller picture of its environmental impact.

The designs we like
The Felicity earrings and Unity design below show why we became interested in Kimaï. They are not simply standard studs or a familiar solitaire with a different brand name.
Design quality
We particularly like the balance between the gold and the diamonds. Some pieces are playful; others are understated enough for everyday wear. That distinction matters when judging the price. A sculptural ring should be compared with other designer rings, not just with the cost of its diamonds.
The current range also includes the Cloud collection, wedding bands and men's jewelry. The brand has more to offer than engagement rings alone.
Kimaï diamond selection and quality
Choosing a diamond
Kimaï's shopping experience starts with the design. It is different from using Ritani's loose-diamond search, where you can compare a large inventory yourself. For bespoke work, Kimaï offers a gemologist-led shortlist based on your budget and preferences, giving buyers a guided route to customization.
Diamond quality in our research
Our review compared the diamond details on earrings, eternity rings and engagement rings. Color and clarity were often listed, but the cut information was much harder to find. The screenshots below show why we asked support for more detail.
The stud earrings shown here were listed at $8,745 for a pair with a one-carat diamond in each ear in our research. Despite that price, the listing did not give us the color, clarity and cut details we wanted. At two carats in total, this is a larger pair than the one-carat-total-weight studs compared below.
Castle Eternity ring
The Castle listing gave F color and VS+ clarity. Those are useful starting points, but they do not tell you how well each diamond returns light.
Oprah Eternity ring
For the Oprah design, we found information spread between the description and materials section. We wanted one clear specification rather than having to piece it together.
Simone ring
The Simone ring raised a similar question: which details described the exact ring being ordered? Attractive photography is helpful, but a buyer should also get a consistent description of the stone.
Engagement-ring diamond quality
The bigger the center stone, the more useful its individual report and video become. Ask to see both before agreeing to the diamond, especially when the ring cannot be returned simply because you change your mind.
Color grades
Many of the pieces we examined used D–F color, the colorless range. These are attractive grades, but you do not always need the highest one. Shape, size, setting color and personal sensitivity to tint all affect the choice.
Clarity grades
We frequently saw VS+ descriptions. VS means very slightly included: small internal features are assessed under magnification. A VS diamond can be a sensible choice, but the grade alone does not guarantee that every inclusion is invisible to you.
Cut grades
In our support exchange, Kimaï said most engagement-ring diamonds had Excellent or Ideal cut labels, with Very Good as the minimum. For a round brilliant center stone, we would favor a strong cut and inspect its proportions and video rather than settling on the minimum.
Fancy shapes need a different approach. A seller's cut label is not a complete assessment of an oval, pear or emerald cut. Look at symmetry, light and dark areas, outline, and how the diamond looks in motion.
Carat weights
Carat measures weight. In earrings or multi-stone rings, confirm whether the number is for one diamond or all the diamonds combined. A pair of one-carat-total-weight studs is not a pair of one-carat stones.
Diamond shapes
Kimaï's current engagement collection includes pear, oval, marquise and elongated-cushion designs. These suit the brand's less traditional style. Choose the shape you like first, then assess the specific diamond offered for it.
Grading and certificates
Kimaï's diamond education page says diamonds above 0.50 carats are sent to IGI for grading. Ask for your report before ordering. A general reference to GIA's grading scale is not the same as a GIA report for that stone.
Our view of the diamond quality
The color and clarity specifications were generally appealing. Our concern was being able to establish the full quality before paying a premium. A clear report and a useful view of the exact center diamond can resolve much of that uncertainty.
Kimaï prices: jewelry and diamonds
Current jewelry price examples
In September 2026, Kimaï's engagement-ring collection listed the Maria Oval from $3,650, Jackie Pear from $3,990 and Isadora Trilogy from $8,495. These are advertised starting prices, not like-for-like diamond quotes. The chosen stone and design determine the finished price.

To look beyond the designer premium, we compared familiar jewelry styles: one-carat-total-weight studs and a simple solitaire ring. Prices below are from the article's 2024 publication. The tables include the diamond grades so you can see what each price bought.

The Ritani pair was $1,335 less—about half the price of Kimaï's, with a lower minimum color grade of H rather than F. For conventional studs, where the setting contributes less to the overall design, we found Kimaï's premium harder to justify.

Shopping at Kimaï
The website
We liked the photography and the uncluttered presentation in our review. The pictures helped us understand the designs. The limited filters made it harder to narrow the selection, although this mattered less with a small collection. Searching for technical diamond details took more effort than browsing the jewelry itself.
Diamond inspection and customization
Kimaï's bespoke service now offers virtual or in-person consultations, design sketches and a diamond shortlist. It advertises a $500 design deposit credited to the final invoice. We like this guided route for someone with a clear idea of the ring they want. It is still different from browsing and comparing thousands of loose stones independently.
Customer service and support
The support team in our research was friendly and reasonably knowledgeable. We had to ask several times to get complete answers about cut quality and grading laboratories, but the answers helped us evaluate the jewelry. Support could also provide grading reports on request. Have your questions ready before a consultation so you can discuss the exact stone, its report and the finished price together.
We also tested response time with an out-of-hours email. Kimaï took four days, while Clean Origin replied the next morning.
Recent customer feedback is positive overall. Kimaï had 4.5 out of 5 from 88 Trustpilot reviews, including 21 in the previous 12 months when checked in September 2026. Buyers commonly praise the distinctive designs, personal service and help with bespoke orders. Contacting Kimaï
Our contact form and WhatsApp attempts failed, and we received no reply to our Facebook message, so we switched to email. The current site advertises WhatsApp and appointments. For a ring order, a written diamond specification and confirmation of the final price are useful regardless of which channel you start with.
Shipping and returns
Delivery
Kimaï ships internationally. Its FAQ says non-UK orders leave Antwerp and engagement-ring shipping is included. Delivery depends on whether the piece is in stock or made to order. Use the product's stated lead time rather than assuming the courier's transit time is the whole wait.
Returns and exchanges
Kimaï now advertises 14 days for eligible returns, but rings, engraved items and made-to-order pieces are excluded. Returns are not generally free. Its terms also exclude earrings from change-of-mind refunds or exchanges on hygiene grounds. Confirm eligibility for the specific piece before paying.
This remains an important drawback compared with sellers offering more flexible returns on standard rings. Be certain about the design, diamond and size before placing an order.
Should you buy from Kimaï?
Choose Kimaï because you love its jewelry, not because you expect the lowest diamond price. The design work is its strength. The comparison left us less convinced by its value for conventional studs and simple solitaire rings.
Our 3.7/5 assessment balances those distinctive designs and helpful personal service against the price premium, diamond-information concerns and restrictive returns. The bespoke service makes it more interesting for a design-led purchase, provided you settle the details before committing.
