An engagement ring is a personal purchase, not a test of how much you can spend. Before opening the diamond search, decide on your total budget, preferred shape, metal, and likely ring size. Leave room for the setting and tax rather than using the whole budget on the center stone.

Yes. We have bought and received Ritani jewelry, including a ring and its grading documents. We consider it a trustworthy place to shop and one of our strongest choices for lab-grown diamond value.
What makes Ritani worth comparing?
Ritani lets you compare individual diamonds rather than only choosing from broad quality bands. Look at the price, measurements, grading report, and video together.
We also like its diamond cost breakdown. Showing the seller's stated cost and markup is more useful to us than an unexplained crossed-out retail price. It is still Ritani's own information, so compare the final price with another jeweler before deciding.

How we would choose a ring at Ritani
1. Choose the shape and setting style
Ritani's site offers routes to start with a lab diamond or a setting. If your partner has a particular design in mind, start there. Otherwise, choose the diamond shape first and compare settings that will hold it.
A solitaire keeps attention on the center stone. Side stones or a halo add detail. Look beyond the top-down photo: check the side view, how high the diamond sits, and whether a straight wedding band will sit beside it.
Choose the metal and confirm the ring size early. Do not rely on a future resize to solve an uncertain fit, particularly for an ornate band or a design that may be difficult to alter.
2. Learn the 4Cs and narrow your search
The 4Cs are cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. Here is how we use them when shopping:
- Cut: For a round diamond, start with the better cut labels, then check the report and video. Sparkle matters more than buying a slightly heavier but less attractive stone.
- Color: Look for a diamond that appears white enough in your chosen setting. You do not automatically need the highest color grade.
- Clarity: Aim for a diamond without distracting marks visible to the naked eye. Higher grades can be worth considering when the price difference is small.
- Carat: This is weight, not the diameter you see. Compare the measurements, especially with elongated shapes.
Set a maximum diamond price that leaves enough for the setting. If the results are overwhelming, narrow the shape and weight first, then compare a few stones with similar color and clarity.

3. Compare Ritani's suggested alternatives
The guide highlighted Ritani's alternative-diamond suggestions, and we still think they are worth a look. During one of our purchases, we preferred the suggested stone to our first choice and bought it.
Compare the suggestion with your original choice rather than assuming a higher grade makes it better. Does it look brighter? Is the shape more appealing? Is the size difference visible, and is it worth the extra cost?
We would rather choose between three well-matched diamonds than keep widening the search.
4. Inspect the diamond and check the complete ring
Open the video and grading report for each shortlisted stone. Check that the report number and specifications match the listing. Watch the diamond turn: a still image may hide a distracting inclusion or a dark area.
Once you have paired the diamond and setting, check the metal, ring size, supported stone measurements, and complete ring price. A setting-only price is not the price of the finished ring. Confirm any promotion against the actual combination, not just a banner.
5. Ask for help with the final choice
Our shopping experience included helpful support and a customization request through chat. For your own shortlist, ask a specific question: which of these stones looks better, will it fit this setting, or how high will the finished ring sit?
If an automated tool cannot answer the question, ask for a person to review it. For a proposal deadline or a custom design, get the delivery estimate and return eligibility in writing before ordering.
Check the diamond's grading report
Our own Ritani ring came with an IGI report. A report helps you check what the diamond is and compare its stated quality with other stones; it is not a promise that every graded diamond looks equally good.
Grading formats have changed since the article. IGI continues to use the 4Cs for natural and lab-grown diamonds. GIA's current assessment uses Premium and Standard categories for eligible colorless to near-colorless lab-grown stones.
Read the document supplied with the particular diamond. Do not assume every laboratory uses the same labels, or treat a seller's cut filter as a substitute for the report and video.
Can you preview a Ritani engagement ring before buying?
Yes, for qualifying orders and locations. This guide described Ritani's earlier partner-jeweler and WeWork arrangements. The current service is Free Preview with a Diamond Pro, generally at a shared office location rather than a conventional jewelry store.
The current preview page says:
- Your order must total at least $1,500.
- You can preview one loose diamond or one engagement ring at a time.
- Appointments are normally on weekdays, and the preview must take place within a week of the Diamond Pro receiving the item.
- Two previews per year are allowed; a third is treated as final sale.
- A temporary payment hold is placed before the appointment. Payment is taken if you keep the piece.
Check your location and exact order with Ritani before relying on this option. Importantly, the preview page says its return window starts when the Diamond Pro receives the order, not when you attend.
Shipping and returns: plan around your proposal date
Ritani's shipping page advertises free, insured FedEx Priority Overnight delivery within the US once the jewelry is finished. A signature is required.
Overnight shipping does not mean an engagement ring will be ready tomorrow. The diamond may need to be sourced and the ring made first. Ask for the estimated arrival date of the complete order and leave time to inspect it before the proposal.
The dedicated returns page currently gives eligible US orders 30 days from shipment. It requires new, unworn, unaltered items with their packaging and documents, an authorization from support, and Ritani's insured label. The package must be scanned by FedEx within seven days of the label being issued.
Other Ritani pages have used different return wording. Ask which rule applies to your exact ring, especially for a custom request, an alteration, or an international purchase. Do not assume the US policy applies everywhere. Keep the box and report while you decide whether to keep the ring.
Resizing, engraving, and other benefits
Ritani's services page describes one free resize in the first year, with design and location restrictions. It also offers engraving on suitable pieces. Ask whether your chosen setting can be resized and how engraving affects its return eligibility.
These benefits are useful, but we would still try to get the fit right before ordering. If you want a fully custom ring rather than a standard setting, ask about the design fee, production time, and cancellation terms before commissioning it.
