Why LabGrownCarats exists

It started with a pair of earrings.

In 2020, founder Klaus Thorup was looking for diamond earrings for his wife and discovered lab-grown diamonds. Good buying information was surprisingly hard to find, so he learned the subject, bought and returned products, spoke with retailers, and wrote the guides he wished had existed.

We still update the site the same way: keep what real research taught us, test what has changed, and explain the trade-offs in plain language.
