Vrai is the more appealing choice if you love one of its jewelry designs. Clean Origin may offer a lower-priced alternative and more time to return an eligible piece, but we would inspect the actual diamond carefully before ordering. For a loose diamond bought mainly on value, we would compare Ritani before choosing either.
Our article favored Clean Origin for price and Vrai for design. The design distinction still makes sense. The old description of Clean Origin as one of our top-rated, lowest-price jewelers does not.

Introduction to Clean Origin
Clean Origin launched in 2017 as a lab-grown diamond specialist. The jewelry range grew to include rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets and custom pieces. It now sells natural diamonds too.

We have bought and returned a petite lab-grown diamond tennis bracelet from Clean Origin. The presentation was good: a cream-colored jewelry box, secure packaging and a discreet outer parcel. The return was straightforward.
We still value that experience. Our lower current score reflects what changed afterward: less competitive loose-diamond prices, less consistent service and a later listing without images of the actual diamond.
Introduction to Vrai
Vrai, originally known as Vrai and Oro, is the jewelry brand associated with Diamond Foundry. It focuses on lab-grown diamonds and designs that often feel different from the standard settings sold across many retailers.

We like its finished pieces and have purchased and tested Vrai jewelry. A particular design can be a good reason to choose it, especially when you have compared similar pieces and keep coming back to that one.
Our Vrai review gives it 4.3/5. That does not mean every Vrai diamond is better value than every Clean Origin diamond. The grade report, actual stone, design and full price still matter.
Clean Origin vs. Vrai: lab-grown diamond selection
For our reference, we searched for a round lab-grown diamond weighing 0.93–1.07 carats, with I–J color, VS1–VS2 clarity and the highest qualifying cut label. For IGI-graded rounds, that was generally Ideal.
The range straddled one carat because a diamond just below the full weight can be worth comparing. I–J is near-colorless with more warmth than higher grades; VS1–VS2 describes small inclusions. These are useful filters, but not a substitute for seeing the stone.
Clean Origin diamond quality and inventory
The dated search found 13 matching diamonds within a catalog of about 30,000 lab-grown stones. We liked several candidates but would have welcomed a larger shortlist.

Clean Origin continues to offer plenty of loose diamonds and finished jewelry. The important change in our view is not simply the number of listings. It is whether the information on a chosen listing lets you judge the actual diamond.
In our September 1, 2026 review check, the 2.01-carat page had a report button, measurements and a 360-degree control, but its gallery was labelled Sample Image. We would ask for real high-resolution media before considering that stone.
Vrai diamond quality and inventory
Vrai returned 15 reference matches in the dated search. That was slightly more than Clean Origin for those filters, despite Vrai's smaller overall selection.
The article placed too much weight on catalog size. Neither 13 nor 15 results is automatically inadequate if there are suitable stones you can inspect properly. Equally, thousands of listings are little help if they do not show the diamonds clearly.
Vrai's main strength was its jewelry design: distinctive interpretations of studs, pendants and rings, plus designer collaborations. We still see it as a better destination for a piece you love than a default low-price diamond search.
Its options also extend beyond rings now. The stud builder lets buyers choose details such as shape, metal, size, color and a single earring or pair. Choosing those options is not necessarily the same as inspecting and selecting two individually identified diamonds.
Clean Origin vs. Vrai: price comparison
Clean Origin diamond prices
Our historical reference range was $800–$1,170 at Clean Origin, compared with $1,200–$2,000 at Vrai. That was the basis for our earlier preference for Clean Origin on price.
| Original reference search | Matches | Recorded range |
|---|---|---|
| Clean Origin, round near one carat, I–J, VS1–VS2 | 13 | $800–$1,170 |
| Vrai, round near one carat, I–J, VS1–VS2 | 15 | $1,200–$2,000 |
The searches used the seller's highest qualifying cut label, and the grading arrangements differed. These are older research results, not equivalent stones or current prices.
We also recorded a half-carat-total-weight solitaire pendant at $695 from Clean Origin. The comparison listed $900 at Ritani and $1,070 at James Allen, but described differences in cut quality. It would be misleading to claim the lower price bought an identical piece.
Our more recent Clean Origin review found a 2.01-carat round, E-color, VVS2, IGI-graded stone at $694 on September 1, 2026, during a sale. Five close 1.95-carat Ritani results with the same color, clarity and lab criteria had a $422 median.
The stones were not identical, and the promotion was part of that dated check. Still, the gap explains why we no longer call Clean Origin the automatic best-value choice. Our two-carat price guide provides newer dated comparisons.
Vrai diamond prices
Vrai's premium is easier to justify when it buys a design you prefer. It is less persuasive when the only attraction is a loose diamond with grades similar to cheaper alternatives.
The grading arrangement also affects the comparison. Vrai's standard reports are prepared in-house; they are not GIA reports simply because staff have GIA training. Vrai offers an optional IGI report for a non-refundable fee, adding two to three weeks before production.
We removed the old guessed dollar range for that service. Ask for the actual fee and timing for your order, then include it in the comparison if an independent report matters to you.
For finished jewelry, do not reduce the decision to carat weight. Compare the setting, metal, dimensions, chain or earring backs, and how the piece looks when worn. A premium can be reasonable when it buys something you genuinely prefer.
Clean Origin vs. Vrai: shopping experience
The Clean Origin shopping experience
We found Clean Origin's earlier site straightforward and its support friendly and knowledgeable. The original diamond videos and accessible grading information helped us make a shortlist.
Our later review was less positive. Service remained friendly but was not consistently as useful as before. The sampled diamond page's generic image was a more concrete problem: a 360-degree control does not help if it rotates a sample rather than the stone being sold.
Clean Origin still has stores, virtual appointments and an easy ring builder. Use those options to ask specific questions about the chosen diamond and the setting. If support cannot provide real images or explain the report clearly, there is no need to settle for that listing.
The bracelet we bought and returned remains a positive experience. It is one reason we still consider the seller worth comparing for particular finished pieces, even though it is no longer among our leading recommendations.
The Vrai shopping experience
We liked Vrai's clean, design-focused website in the research. It was easy to browse finished pieces without working through a large diamond search first.
For loose diamonds, we wanted stronger inspection tools and independent grading. the support experience was pleasant, but we preferred the more detailed diamond-selection help at our strongest specialist retailers.
Vrai's current configuration options make more pieces adjustable to your preferences. For an important purchase, clarify whether the price covers an identified diamond, what report comes with it and when production will begin.
The right route depends on how you shop. If you already love a particular pendant or ring, Vrai's simpler design-led approach can be an advantage. If you enjoy comparing reports and searching for the lowest price on a specific stone, include other sellers.
Clean Origin vs. Vrai: sustainability
Clean Origin sustainability
Clean Origin says 96% of its gold is recycled and describes support for One Tree Planted. The older all-metals and tree-per-dollar claims are not the wording we would rely on for a purchase now.
Its catalog also includes natural diamonds, so it is no longer accurate to say every Clean Origin order avoids diamond mining.
We would like clearer product-level information about the lab-grown diamond's grower and energy source. A lab-grown stone is a real diamond, but its environmental footprint still depends on how it was made.
Vrai sustainability
Vrai describes river-powered production at its American foundry. The link to a named grower and a stated power source is more useful than a generic promise that a diamond is “green.”
That does not mean every finished Vrai piece has no environmental impact. Metals, manufacturing and transport matter too. Those production claims are useful, but do not make the whole business impact-free.
If sourcing is a deciding factor, ask what information applies to the exact piece you are buying.
Clean Origin vs. Vrai: shipping and returns
Clean Origin offers free domestic FedEx two-day shipping. Eligible returns have 60 days from readiness for delivery or pickup, with arrival back required by day 60. Resized or exchanged orders are final sale; custom orders receive credit only. See its return terms.
Vrai lists US shipping at $10 for FedEx 2Day or $50 for Overnight. Production time comes before transit time.
For eligible Vrai orders below $15,000, the 30-day return choice is a refund less applicable fees or store credit. Higher-value orders have credit-only terms. Fees include $300 for engagement rings, $50 for wedding bands unless engraved, and $50 for made-to-order jewelry. An engraved band carries the $300 fee. Store credit waives the applicable fee but is non-refundable.
Custom and resized pieces can be excluded, and engraving or finishing costs are not refunded. Check the terms for your exact item before ordering. Free return postage is not the same thing as a full refund.

Our verdict: Clean Origin vs. Vrai
Choose Vrai when its design is what you want and you are comfortable with the grading and return terms. Consider Clean Origin for a particular piece at a competitive price, but insist on the information needed to judge its diamonds.
We no longer recommend Clean Origin simply as the lowest-price alternative to Vrai. For a loose diamond, Ritani is our first place to compare value.

Is Clean Origin better than Vrai?
Clean Origin has a longer eligible return window and had lower prices in our dated search. Vrai earns the higher score in our existing reviews, 4.3/5 versus 3.7/5, with design a major reason to consider it. Neither wins every purchase: compare the exact piece, diamond information and total cost.
