Introduction to Jared Jewelry
Jared Jewelry has a long and impressive history that dates back to 1910 when Henry Shaw founded Sterling Jewelers. Since then, it has grown through strategic acquisitions to become one of the leading jewelry brands in the United States. In 1987, Signet, the world’s largest jewelry retailer, acquired Sterling Jewelers and has since added other prominent jewelry brands like Zale Corporation, James Allen, and Blue Nile to its portfolio.

To compare the diamond and jewelry selections of Grown Brilliance and Jared Jewelry, we will first review Grown Brilliance’s inventory, followed by Jared Jewelry’s, and then make a comparison.
Grown Brilliance diamond quality and inventory
At Grown Brilliance, you’ll find an extensive selection of high-quality lab-grown diamonds in various shapes, sizes, and grades. Their inventory features around 91,000 loose round diamonds. When we searched for our reference diamond (as described below), we found 54 matches, and nearly all of them were exceptional in quality.
Our reference diamond is a round brilliant-cut lab-created diamond between 0.93-1.07 carats. The reference diamond clarity is in the range VS1 to VS2 and with a diamond color grade of I or J. The lab diamond cut grade is always the highest (excellent or ideal).
Grown Brilliance also has a large selection of so-called pre-set jewelry designs, in which you don’t decide on the specific diamond, but the jeweler guarantees a certain quality (often a range). While we always recommend that shoppers customize by picking their own diamonds from the loose diamond inventory, at Grown Brilliance, the quality is excellent, bar a few instances.
The selection of design jewelry with pre-set diamonds is extremely impressive. They range from traditional designs to unique and stunning pieces, including designer collaborations and their super premium collection.
Jared Jewelry diamond quality and inventory
Surprisingly, Jared also offers a large selection of diamonds. Our review of Jared Jewelry reveals that their loose diamond collection is sourced from the same platform as the well-known James Allen, and while the inventory is smaller, it’s still decent.
However, if you’re looking for diamond jewelry, consider James Allen instead. They have an impressive inventory of 11,639 lab diamonds. In comparison, Jared Jewelry only has 5,294 lab diamonds with the same minimum standards of excellent/ideal cut, J color, and VS clarity listed. James Allen is one of our most highly-rated diamond jewelers, far better than Jared Jewelry (see how much in our James Allen vs. Jared Jewelry review).
When it comes to diamond inventory, Jared and Grown Brilliance have some similarities. Both Grown Brilliance Jared Jewelry skews towards higher diamond color grades. Jared, like its Signet-fellow James Allen, starts at higher minimum grades.
But, while Grown Brilliance has a large selection of I and H-graded diamonds, diamonds at Jared Jewelry tend to start even higher. Jared offers many options for D and E grades. However, these diamonds are much more expensive, and we generally advise against overspending on these color grades.

Grown Brilliance diamond prices
Grown Brilliance has some of the most reasonable and competitive prices for loose lab-grown diamonds on the market. Grown Brilliance is comparable to Ritani in price (see our Ritani review). As a result, when you shop at Grown Brilliance, you’ll get a great deal!
Grown Brilliance’s prices ranged from $800 to $1,170 compared to our reference diamond. According to our comparisons with other diamond jewelers, these are among the most affordable lab-grown diamonds we’ve seen anywhere.
The pre-set diamond jewelry from Grown Brilliance is very cheap, too. Their 1/2 carat (tw.) solitaire pendant, for example, costs $695, which is less than at Ritani ($900) or James Allen ($950) using a similar-sized but better-cut graded diamond.
Rather than buying a pre-made diamond jewelry piece, we strongly advise you to create your own by selecting your own diamond. Doing it this way will give you a much better diamond. Grown Brilliance is a great place to make your own jewelry.
Jared Jewelry diamond prices
We will again use our reference diamond to compare the prices of Grown Brilliance and Jared Jewelry.
Jared Jewelry sells 1-carat lab diamonds for between $1,470 and $2,670. However, our research suggests that the lower-priced options’ diamond clarity may be lower than their grade suggests.
When assessing the selection of loose diamonds, it appears that the lowest price for a 1-carat lab diamond with acceptable diamond clarity at Jared is around $1,800. However, Clean Origin, Ritani, and With Clarity provide top-notch 1-carat lab diamonds for under $1000, while James Allen and Brilliant Earth offer exceptional 1-carat lab diamonds starting at $1000.
So compared with our recommended best places to purchase lab diamonds, Jared’s prices are significantly higher. However, they are not as excessive as those of mall jewelers like Diamonds Direct or Zales, who charge much more.

After comparing diamond prices at Grown Brilliance and Jared Jewelry, we discovered that Grown Brilliance’s are among the lowest we’ve seen, often on par with, and in some cases lower than, those at Ritani and Clean Origin. And definitely much lower than at Jared.
While the prices at Jared Jewelry are higher than what we’ve found at our top-rated diamond jewelers, they are still reasonably priced compared to other mall jewelers. However, when it comes to online jewelers, we prefer Grown Brilliance over Jared Jewelry.

The shopping experience and the ability to inspect prospective diamonds are important factors to consider when purchasing a diamond. We have done this by shopping at both Grown Brilliance and Jared Jewelry, and experienced all parts of the buying process, from analyzing diamonds to buying jewelry and querying customer support.
The Grown Brilliance shopping experience
We have found that Grown Brilliance has a user-friendly website and provides a simple, hassle-free purchasing experience. You can view 360-degree high-definition videos and images of almost all diamonds, plus all relevant diamond data for their full inventory. Grading reports are, unfortunately, not directly available to download. However, you can obtain them but contacting the Grown Brilliance customer support.
We found the process to be a bit of a hassle, and this is our biggest gripe with Grown Brilliance. That said, all diamonds are graded independently, and grading reports are available. You just have to be patient.
Luckily, Grown Brilliance gives you access to expert assistance through email, phone, and live chat with their customer service and diamond experts. This is not only useful for getting diamond certificates but also for buying advice and getting answers to all your potential questions.
The customer support is knowledgeable and helpful, but unlike at James Allen, Clean Origin, and Ritani, you won’t always get in contact with a diamond expert or gemologist. Our experience with customer support is good, but we have run into a few representatives, who were less experienced. We recommend instead setting up a virtual appointment to speak to one of Grown Brilliance’s experts.
Grown Brilliance’s website is, however, excellent, easy to navigate, and well-designed. The online shopping experience is fantastic, particularly when it comes to designing diamond rings. This is an area where Grown Brilliance even beats the best, James Allen, and why we have crowned Grown Brilliance the best place to buy diamond engagement rings.
We also found that shopping for other diamond jewelry was a great experience. The images and videos at Grown Brilliance are very high-quality, all information is readily available, and we felt confident shopping at Grown Brilliance.
All in all, despite the lack of downloadable diamond certificates, we found that the shopping experience at Grown Brilliance was outstanding.

The Jared Jewelry shopping experience
When comparing the shopping experiences of Jared Jewelry and Grown Brilliance, it’s important to note that Grown Brilliance is primarily an online retailer, whereas Jared is mostly a physical diamond retailer.
Jared has established itself as a premium alternative to mall jewelry stores and differentiates itself from sister Signet brands like Kay, Zales, and the new addition Diamonds Direct. When you walk into a Jared store, you’ll notice the more upscale feel of the shopping experience.
We highly recommend shopping for diamonds online. This is because online shopping offers many benefits, such as competitive pricing and a better shopping experience. You can easily compare thousands of diamonds from the comfort of your home and view diamond grading reports and high-quality images. Some online diamond jewelers, like Grown Brilliance above and James Allen, even allow you to preview how a specific diamond will look in different settings.
Best of all, you won’t have to deal with any pushy salespeople.
The shopping experience at Jared Jewelry can, unfortunately, be inconsistent. When it comes to shopping for loose diamonds, it’s comparable to James Allen, as mentioned earlier in our Jared vs. Grown Brilliance comparison. However, the inventory is limited, and prices are higher. Nevertheless, despite missing some of the features offered by James Allen, the overall shopping experience is satisfactory.
The online platform not only helps you find loose lab diamonds but also enables you to design your own diamond ring. The selection of ring settings is quite extensive, allowing you to pair the perfect ring design with the ideal diamond. However, unlike James Allen’s advanced ring designer tool, you can only see the ring with a standard diamond image.
Jared Jewelry’s platform and user interface for pre-set diamond jewelry is the same as that of Kay and Zales. Unfortunately, it appears to be an outdated design from a decade ago. Moreover, the functionalities are limited, the details are insufficient, and the options are few. So, if you want to personalize something other than a diamond engagement ring, your choices are limited. Although Jared Jewelry sells loose diamonds, the selection is restricted to specific price ranges that lack critical information about the diamond’s quality.

The company also offers a generous 45-day return period for unworn jewelry at no additional cost. You can simply contact their customer service, and they will send you a return label.
