Our earlier pick was an east-to-west emerald-cut pendant in 14-karat gold with 0.25 total carats. The horizontal setting offers a different look from a classic round solitaire. Check the dimensions and chain length when comparing a current version.
The earlier white-gold example used a 0.50-carat heart-shaped diamond. A heart design is a personal choice: we would choose it because the recipient likes that shape, rather than simply because it is promoted for Mother's Day.
The four-prong solitaire in our original selection came in 0.50- to 1-carat versions. Compare the diamond's visible size and the chain rather than assuming the largest version will be the most wearable.
Our earlier selection included 1- to 3-total-carat pairs in white gold. Total weight is split between the two earrings. Check the backing and dimensions, particularly if the gift is intended for everyday wear.
The earlier example had 1 total carat across the pair. Compare it with round studs if you are unsure about the shape; personal style matters more than which design carries the larger discount.
