In this comparison
We would start with With Clarity if choosing the setting confidently is your biggest concern. Its Home Preview replicas helped us decide on a design, and the finished engagement ring we later bought impressed us. Ritani would be our first stop for an individual lab-grown diamond, useful search tools and a clear explanation of the stone price. The better purchase depends on the complete ring you want.
Our full reviews rate With Clarity 4.5/5 and Ritani 4.7/5. We have bought rings from both. With Clarity's 1.11-carat Chevron Hidden Halo ring and our 1.15-carat Ritani solitaire were different purchases, with different designs and timetables. Their photographs show our actual experience, rather than an identical-ring test.
Ritani sources loose diamonds from wholesale vendors. That is useful context for its selection and prices, but it does not make a different With Clarity diamond, setting and service package equivalent. We would compare the designs and acceptable stones first, then the complete order totals.

When we would choose With Clarity
With Clarity is especially appealing if you like buying online but worry about how a setting will look on the hand. Product photographs can make it difficult to judge the height, band shape and proportions of the whole ring.
Our Home Preview test gave us something to handle before committing to the real piece. We could compare replica designs, look at them on a hand and decide which details we liked. That is a useful part of an engagement-ring purchase, even if you are already comfortable reading diamond reports.
We would lean toward With Clarity if you:
- are choosing between settings and want to try replicas at home;
- like one of its designs or want help adjusting a ring;
- value the craftsmanship and presentation shown in our purchase;
- are seriously considering buying there and understand the preview credit terms.
The preview does not remove the need to inspect the final diamond or understand the order conditions. It helps settle the design part of the decision, which was important in our own purchase.
When we would choose Ritani
Ritani makes sense when the center diamond is where you want to spend the most time comparing. The filters and listing information help narrow a large range, and the seller's own cost breakdown makes its pricing easier to examine.
We were pleased with the finished ring we received. Ritani also helped us consider an alternative to our first diamond choice, and that recommendation worked well for the purchase. Its appeal is therefore more than the lowest figure in a search.
We would lean toward Ritani if you:
- want to compare individual diamonds and their actual media;
- like a classic setting that suits the chosen stone;
- find a breakdown of vendor cost, fulfillment and markup useful;
- can confirm availability, delivery and return terms for the order.
For a very specific setting, we would still compare the With Clarity design. A good loose diamond is one part of the ring, and the setting needs to suit how you want to wear it.
Our With Clarity experience: replicas, then the real ring
We tested With Clarity's Home Preview and later bought a real engagement ring. Those are two distinct forms of evidence. The replicas helped us choose a style; the finished purchase showed us the jeweler's actual diamond, metalwork and presentation.

Handling the replicas made the setting easier to assess than it had been on screen. We could see how the design sat on the fingers, compare the proportions and consider the details that would remain important after the initial excitement of the purchase.
That confidence helped when we chose the Chevron Hidden Halo ring. We already had a better sense of how the design would look and feel, rather than relying only on a product rendering.
The older preview test does not mean we have repeated the current service under every later version of its terms. We keep the experience as useful evidence and check the current payment and return conditions separately.
How Home Preview works now
With Clarity's current Home Preview page describes up to two replica rings, with a $200 payment per ring. After return within seven days, that payment becomes a gift card toward a future purchase. It is purchase credit, rather than a normal refundable deposit.
The replicas use metallic alloy and a diamond simulant. They help you judge the design, shape, scale and fit. They cannot show the cut performance or quality of the particular real diamond you might buy.
For that reason, we would use the preview to answer a short list of design questions:
- Does the setting sit at a height you like?
- Is the band shape comfortable and visually balanced on the hand?
- Does the center shape suit the setting at the chosen size?
- How might a wedding band sit next to the ring?
Confirm which details your chosen replica represents. Do not assume the sample duplicates every material or specification of the final ring.
The page says replica production can take up to 14 business days. Allow for making and trying the samples before the separate final-ring order. Read the return and non-return conditions before paying, particularly if you are still deciding whether to shop at With Clarity at all.

The With Clarity engagement ring we received
Our purchase combined a 1.11-carat round lab-grown diamond, I color and VVS2 clarity, with a 14k yellow-gold Chevron Hidden Halo setting. The review records an Excellent cut grade for the selected stone.
We chose a setting whose details would tell us more about the finished workmanship than a plain solitaire alone. It has a V-shaped dip in the band and a line of small accent diamonds beneath the center stone. The symmetry, prongs and finish were therefore important parts of the inspection.
We were pleased with the result. The prongs were neat, the hidden halo was even and the polish looked excellent. The weighted blue presentation box also made the purchase feel suitably special.

Seeing the actual ring on a hand helps explain our recommendation. The diamond, setting and band work together; a larger stone alone would not tell you whether you preferred the piece.
That is why With Clarity stays high on our shortlist even when we want to compare a loose-diamond quote elsewhere. The finished design and our experience with it carry weight in the decision.
The Ritani ring we received
Our Ritani purchase was a 1.15-carat round lab-grown diamond in a solitaire setting. We used the ring builder and chose an alternative stone suggested during the process. The diamond looked bright, the setting was neatly made and the ring met our expectations.
The order included an IGI grading report. We photographed the ring, presentation box and paperwork, giving us a record of the actual item rather than a merchant's example photograph.

We liked the simple, secure presentation. The ring box had an additional protective outer box, and the documents were kept separately. Those practical details helped the jewelry and paperwork arrive in good condition.
These purchases support a positive view of both jewelers. With Clarity gave us a detailed hidden-halo design we loved; Ritani delivered the classic solitaire we wanted. Use the photographs to consider the style and proportions you prefer, then inspect the specification of the ring you would order now.
Ritani's wholesale sourcing and diamond selection
Ritani sources loose diamonds through wholesale vendors and sells them to retail shoppers. Its transparency explanation separates vendor cost, fulfillment, markup and customer price. The figures are Ritani's own description of the listing.
Wholesale sourcing helps explain why a broad online selection needs an availability check. A search result is not a promise that the stone is already on the jeweler's premises or ready to be set that afternoon. Ask whether the selected diamond has been secured and what remains before production.
We would apply that availability question to With Clarity too. A large online inventory should lead you to a suitable shortlist, rather than persuade you to choose a seller by its total result count.
For either retailer, narrow the search around the shape, size and appearance you want. Then examine a few actual diamonds. A higher clarity or color grade is not automatically the most useful place to spend more if another stone looks equally appealing to you.
Comparing the individual diamond
Both sellers gave us useful information in the shopping research behind their full reviews. With Clarity's product tools included the diamond image, rotating video, grading-report link, measurements and proportions. Ritani's sampled page included video, report controls, analysis and a cost breakdown.
Ritani's sampled listing also had blank laboratory fields and an incorrect reference to GIA beneath an IGI-listed diamond. That is a reminder to open the document itself and match it to the listing, even when the other tools are helpful.
We would compare the following before deciding between two stones:
| Detail | What we would check |
|---|---|
| Report identity | Laboratory, report number and the match to the listing |
| Measurements | Face-up dimensions as well as carat weight |
| Appearance | Actual-stone media, outline and the pattern as it turns |
| Cut information | What the laboratory actually assessed, separate from retailer labels |
| Final configuration | Whether the stone fits the selected setting and design |
For a round diamond, the cut information and proportions help explain its appearance. For fancy shapes, the outline and visual pattern deserve particular attention. Do not assume that the same seller label means the same thing across different diamonds or websites.
Our grading guide explains how to read the report. Use the information to understand the stone, then decide whether you like it in the finished ring.
Settings, standard options and bespoke design
With Clarity's setting was a central reason for our purchase. Home Preview helped us decide, and the finished Chevron Hidden Halo ring gave us confidence in the work. That is a concrete reason to consider paying for the particular design you prefer.
Ritani's solitaire worked well for our ring. Its classic settings can be a good fit when you want the center diamond and simple proportions to lead the design. For a less usual combination, ask whether the builder can handle it or whether support needs to prepare a quote.
The word “custom” needs care. Selecting a listed setting, metal and center stone is different from commissioning a new design or requesting structural changes. Ask which process you are using and what it means for production and returns.
With Clarity's custom-design page describes design collaboration, renderings and a return offer. Its timing descriptions vary within that page, so use a written schedule for the approved design rather than a general website estimate.
At either seller, confirm the band width, setting height, wedding-band fit and resizing limits that matter to you. Those answers are more useful than assuming two similarly named settings are interchangeable.
With Clarity vs. Ritani prices: compare the complete ring
A supplier-sourced Ritani diamond and a With Clarity finished ring are not automatically an apples-to-apples comparison. Even when loose diamonds share headline grades, their reports, proportions, media and appearance can differ. The setting and buying experience add further differences.
Our separate 2026 review samples made Ritani a useful reference for loose-diamond value. They were different stones and did not produce quotes for the same completed ring. We would not carry a historical percentage gap into today's purchase or use it to dismiss a With Clarity design you prefer.
Build a comparison around the pieces you would be happy to own:
- Shortlist acceptable diamonds at each seller, using the actual reports and media.
- Choose settings that match your preferred metal, style and practical requirements.
- Include the design process, any preview credit already paid and requested changes.
- Confirm availability, production, return status and resizing conditions.
- Compare the payable totals, including any eligible current offer, tax and charges.
A promotion can affect the final quote, but its percentage does not tell you whether the rings are equivalent. Check what is discounted and whether a credit or offer can be combined with it.
We would pay for a design or useful service that improved our confidence in the purchase. Home Preview had that value for us. We would also want a clear view of how the final quote fits the budget, without treating the loose-stone price as the only measure of value.
Home Preview and Diamond Pro appointments solve different problems
With Clarity's replicas are a way to explore design at home. Ritani's Diamond Pro service describes seeing the selected actual diamond or jewelry at an appointment, with an advertised $1,500 minimum order and a temporary payment hold.
If your uncertainty is about band shape or proportions on a hand, a replica can help before the real ring is ordered. If your uncertainty is about the particular diamond or completed piece, an eligible appointment may help answer a different question.
We tested an earlier version of Ritani's preview arrangement, rather than a new Diamond Pro appointment for this article. Confirm the current location, schedule and order eligibility before making plans.
Read the payment conditions carefully at both. A charge later converted to gift-card credit and a payment authorization hold have different consequences if you decide not to buy. Choose the service around the decision you need to make, rather than assume both are interchangeable “free trials.”
Production, delivery and presentation
The With Clarity order documented in our 2026 review arrived 11 days after purchase, including production and the shipment. The Ritani ring arrived in four days during our earlier purchase. These are records of different orders, not a delivery-speed ranking.
Ask for a timetable that covers the chosen stone, setting production and final transit. If replicas or a bespoke design come first, include those stages before counting down to the final delivery.
For a proposal or travel date, allow time after arrival to inspect the ring, check the report and resolve a problem. A carrier's two-day or overnight service describes the shipment after dispatch; it does not cover all the work before that point.
We liked With Clarity's substantial blue box and Ritani's protective packing. Presentation can matter for a gift, but the more important arrival check is that the jewelry, specifications and documents match the order you placed.
Returns, resizing and aftercare
For US orders, With Clarity's policy page describes eligible 30-day returns from receipt and insured return shipping. Resized items, multiple-loose-diamond orders and repeat purchases have restrictions. Its refund policy and terms use different repeat-purchase wording, including six-month restrictions. Confirm your eligibility if you have ordered or returned before.
Ritani's returns page describes eligible US returns within 30 days of shipment. Its terms still give loose diamonds 15 days from delivery. Get the applicable deadline and conditions for your exact order in writing.
With Clarity describes one eligible resize within 30 days of purchase, with shipping charges. Ritani's services page describes an eligible first-year resize. Check the design's limits and resolve the keep-or-return decision before requesting work.
With Clarity's lifetime-warranty wording excludes the center stone and several forms of damage or loss; some small accent-stone support is included. Ask what aftercare applies to the exact ring at either seller. A warranty is not a promise to cover every future problem.
Home Preview is the more useful starting point if you want to compare With Clarity designs without ordering several real rings for return. Preserve the finished jewelry and paperwork while deciding whether to keep the actual purchase.
Our verdict: setting confidence or the individual diamond
We would start with With Clarity when its design and Home Preview address the hardest part of the decision. Our finished-ring purchase is a strong reason to keep it on the shortlist, and its 4.5/5 rating reflects that experience.
We would start with Ritani when choosing the individual diamond and understanding the stone price come first. Its 4.7/5 rating is supported by our successful purchase and useful shopping tools, alongside the order-specific checks described above.

Common questions about With Clarity and Ritani
Is With Clarity Home Preview free?
The current page describes a $200 payment per replica, converted into gift-card credit after return. That is a commitment toward a later purchase, rather than a normal cash-refunded deposit. Read the current terms before ordering samples.
Is the Home Preview stone the diamond I will receive?
No. The replicas use simulants and help you judge the design and proportions. Inspect the information for the real center diamond separately before buying the finished ring.
Is Ritani always the cheaper complete ring?
No universal result follows from our historical samples. The selected diamond, setting, services, available offer and order terms need to be compared together. Ritani is our preferred starting point for loose-diamond value, rather than a guarantee about every finished ring.
Which seller's ring did we prefer?
We were pleased with both purchases for their respective designs. The With Clarity hidden-halo ring and Ritani solitaire were different pieces, so the useful question is which design and buying process suit the ring you want now.
How we made this comparison
We used the existing With Clarity and Ritani review record: With Clarity Home Preview, the later 1.11-carat ring purchase and photographs, Ritani's 1.15-carat ring and report, earlier preview experience, and subsequent shopping and support checks. The replica photographs are labeled separately from the real rings.
The purchases and preview tests took place on different dates. The delivery times reflect those individual orders. The US policy pages linked above were checked on November 7, 2026. Where current pages give conflicting order conditions, we identify the point that needs confirmation rather than choose the more generous version.
Klaus Thorup prepared the comparison using the site's evidence, including earlier review research contributed by Rolf Hartmann. The scores belong to the linked full reviews. Our editorial process explains the assessment criteria, and the disclosure above explains retailer-link funding.
