In this comparison

Start with Brilliant Earth if you want to compare engagement-ring settings in a showroom. Start with With Clarity if you want time at home with replica rings before choosing a design. We rate both 4.5/5 in our full reviews. What makes the choice interesting is where you want to try a ring and what you need to learn before ordering.

We tried settings at a Brilliant Earth showroom. At With Clarity, we tried two replica designs at home, then separately bought a 1.11-carat round lab-grown diamond ring in the Chevron Hidden Halo setting. We also researched the diamond listings, checked the US order terms and compared what each seller lets you evaluate before paying for the finished ring.

Shopping experience and what we tried

Trying on settings at Brilliant Earth

During our November 2023 showroom visit, seeing settings next to each other helped us compare the proportions. In a listing photo, a delicate band or a higher basket can be hard to judge. On a hand, the difference was clearer. We also documented a purchase and return in our full review. Our Brilliant Earth review

Ask which settings will be available at your appointment, what shape and size of sample stone they use and whether you can see a band in the same width and metal as your final choice. Before you leave, record the setting name, the stone measurements and any fit questions. If you found the center diamond online, ask whether its dimensions will work with the design you liked. Trying replica rings at home with With Clarity

We ordered two Home Preview replicas and compared the designs in our own time. We could see how the silhouettes looked on a hand and revisit them in different lighting. The preview uses simulated stones and replica settings. Judge the design and fit with the samples, then judge the actual diamond by its own report, dimensions and video. With Clarity Home Preview

What arrived in our separate With Clarity order

We bought a 1.11-carat round lab-grown diamond in a 14k yellow gold Chevron Hidden Halo setting. It arrived 11 days after we ordered. We liked the combination of the stone and the design, including the details visible from the side. That was the delivery time for our order. Check the estimate for the setting and diamond you choose. Our With Clarity purchase and review

A replica gave us time to compare styles. Receiving a finished ring let us judge the metal, the actual center diamond and the smaller setting details. If those details determine your choice, ask for the measurements, a side view and confirmation of which elements the replica reproduces.

Diamond selection and grading reports

Brilliant Earth and With Clarity both let you choose an individual lab-grown diamond. Start with the same shape, size range, grades and grading lab at both. Compare the face-up dimensions and proportions as well as the weight. Then decide whether each stone is compatible with the setting you want.

At Brilliant Earth, check the detailed listing and ask how it relates to the setting you saw in the showroom. At With Clarity, use the replica to settle design questions and ask for the actual diamond’s report and video separately. Our With Clarity purchase was a round diamond. The same process matters for an oval, cushion or emerald cut because the outline can vary within a weight band.

If one listing is ready sooner than the other, ask when the finished ring would ship. A diamond that is available quickly can still need a setting that takes longer to make. Save the report number, the setting specifications and the expected date together.

Comparing prices and the complete order

Ask each retailer to quote the complete ring you would order. Put the setting and the stone in separate line items and check what any promotion covers. Ask how a Home Preview credit would affect the With Clarity total. For Brilliant Earth, verify that the quote is for the same metal, band width and features as the setting you tried.

Quote itemWhat to compare
DiamondSame shape, weight range, grades and grading lab, plus actual dimensions and video
SettingMetal, ring size, band width, side stones and any engraving or alteration
Try-onAppointment availability, or replica charges and how credits apply
CheckoutEligible discount, tax, shipping and final total
After deliveryResizing, refund method, potential fees and the deadline

If the settings differ, decide which differences you would pay for. A hidden halo, thicker band or different metal can move the quote and change the look. If you need both rings by the same date, compare the estimated delivery dates with the same destination and specifications.

Shipping, returns and resizing

We checked the published US terms on November 7, 2026. Confirm the refund and sizing terms for the exact ring before ordering, particularly if you plan to engrave it or are replacing a ring you returned.

Brilliant Earth. Eligible orders generally have 30 days from availability for shipment or pickup. Some custom and altered pieces are excluded. The policy describes one complimentary resize within 60 days, or up to one year within the design’s recommended size range, subject to restrictions. Ask when the ring will be available and how sizing would affect return eligibility. Brilliant Earth returns and resizing

With Clarity. The standard finished-order refund policy gives eligible items 30 days from receipt. The refund page lists different terms for certain repeat purchases following a return. If that applies to you, ask the seller to confirm the refund method and any fee for the exact order. Save the report and original packaging, and check how resizing or modifications affect eligibility. With Clarity lists complimentary insured outbound shipping. The preview and finished jewelry have separate deadlines. Save each confirmation, return instruction and final eligible date. If you are buying for a proposal, leave time after delivery to inspect the stone, fit and finish.
