In this comparison

Brilliant Earth would be our first stop for an engagement ring built around an individually chosen diamond. Pandora is especially appealing when you love one of its finished designs and want to try the jewelry in a store. Both deserve consideration for lab-grown diamonds, but they give you different ways to choose the piece.

Our full reviews rate Brilliant Earth 4.5/5 and Pandora 3.9/5. We like Pandora's jewelry more when we judge it as something to wear, rather than as a way to buy a loose stone. Brilliant Earth's setting range, diamond information and showroom options make it the more flexible starting point for a ring search.

Our assessment draws on Pandora jewelry purchases and store visits, plus Brilliant Earth's earlier purchase-and-return research and later shopping checks. This page compares lab-grown diamond jewelry, rather than Pandora's wider charm collection or every gemstone sold by Brilliant Earth.

Our Brilliant Earth review and Pandora diamond review explain the scores. They are our editorial ratings of each seller's offer, rather than guarantees about an individual piece.

When we would choose Brilliant Earth

We would start with Brilliant Earth when choosing the center diamond is an important part of the purchase. Its loose-diamond search lets you narrow the shape, weight, grades and other details before considering the particular stone and its setting together.

That control is useful for an engagement ring. You may care about the outline of an oval, the proportions of a cushion or how a round diamond looks as it turns. Two diamonds with the same headline grades can still look different to you.

Brilliant Earth also gives you room to explore the setting. A ring's band width, height and wedding-band fit can matter more in daily use than another small increase in carat weight. An appointment can help you compare those features.

We would lean toward Brilliant Earth if you:

  • want to inspect and choose a particular center stone;
  • want to compare several setting styles or diamond shapes;
  • would value a showroom appointment while building a shortlist;
  • want to investigate a specific sourcing or production program.

Those advantages do not make every Brilliant Earth ring a better choice than every Pandora ring. If you already know you prefer a particular finished design, that preference deserves weight too.

When we would choose Pandora

Pandora works well when the design comes first. You see a ring, pendant or pair of earrings that you would enjoy wearing, then choose the available metal, size and diamond-weight option. You are buying that piece, with its proportions and recognizable styling.

Our purchases and store visits left us positive about this approach. Trying the jewelry was useful: a ring's shape on the hand, the scale of a pendant and the way pieces look together are difficult to settle from a specification list.

We would lean toward Pandora if you:

  • have found a finished design you prefer to the alternatives;
  • want everyday diamond jewelry or a gift with a clear style;
  • like trying pieces in person before deciding;
  • are comfortable choosing the finished piece without selecting its individual loose stone.

Make sure the item is from the lab-grown diamond range. Pandora sells other jewelry using different stones, so the brand name or sparkle alone does not establish that a piece contains diamonds.

What our Pandora purchase shows

We bought Pandora lab-grown diamond jewelry and examined the pieces, packaging and supplied paperwork. The original photographs document that experience, including the small ring and its purple presentation box.

Lab-grown diamond jewelry displayed at Pandora
Our earlier Pandora store research: rings, earrings and pendants displayed together. The photographed prices are historical.

The store display helped us understand the collection as jewelry. A smaller ring could appeal because of the setting and the way it could be worn alongside other pieces. A pendant might be a better gift than a larger loose diamond that still needs a suitable setting.

We liked being able to look beyond the website's close-ups. It was easier to judge the size of the jewelry and whether the metalwork suited our taste. That is the strongest reason we would encourage a visit when you are considering Pandora.

Our experience with a small-stone purchase does not describe every larger ring or every later collection. We use it to explain the buying process and paperwork we actually received, then check current product information for the piece being considered now.

What our Brilliant Earth research adds

Our Brilliant Earth review includes earlier purchase-and-return research, showroom visits and photographs, and later checks of its online tools, customer service and policies. Its design choice and the ability to move between online research and an appointment are central to our recommendation.

In the review's 2026 product-page check, the sampled two-carat diamond had interactive video, a separate image, measurements, an actual-size view and an IGI grading section. Those tools give the shopper more information about an individual stone before ordering.

Some alternative listings used a sample image. We would therefore inspect the actual candidate, rather than assume every result provides the same detail.

The showroom photographs also show why design is part of this decision. Rings that appear close in a search can differ in height, width and the arrangement of side stones. For us, useful diamond information and useful setting advice belong in the same purchase.

Choosing a diamond or choosing a finished design

The main difference between these sellers is the sequence of decisions. With a build-your-own Brilliant Earth ring, you can compare individual diamonds and then combine the selected stone with an appropriate setting. At Pandora, you choose a finished design and its available options.

Neither route removes the need to inspect the finished jewelry. A diamond that looks attractive on video still needs a setting you like. A finished ring that looks attractive in a campaign photograph still needs to feel right on a hand.

Your starting pointWhat we would do next
“I want a particular diamond shape and appearance.”Use Brilliant Earth's loose-stone tools and inspect a manageable shortlist
“I want this Pandora design.”Try that piece, compare its available options and check the paperwork and terms
“I need a diamond gift within a fixed budget.”Compare finished pendants, studs or rings from both, including metal and total weight
“I want to choose between two complete rings.”Compare the actual designs, fit, documents and payable totals

For an engagement ring, Brilliant Earth's flexibility is a strong reason to start there. Pandora can still be a valid engagement-ring choice if you love a particular design and it meets your needs. The occasion does not require you to buy through a loose-diamond builder.

Diamond certificates: our small-stone card is only one example

The certificate photographed with our Pandora purchase lists 0.10–0.25 carat, G–J color, VS+ clarity and Excellent cut. It is Pandora's own card with ranges, rather than an individual report giving exact grades for a named stone.

The certificate and ring from our Pandora purchase
Our Pandora purchase came with a small-stone card giving weight and grade ranges. It is not an individual IGI report.

That is useful evidence of what came with our purchase. It would be misleading to use it to say that Pandora never supplies independent grading reports.

IGI's September 2022 announcement describes reports accompanying Pandora stones of 0.50 carat and above. The current Infinite 0.50-carat US listing also identifies IGI for Infinite diamonds at and above that size.

The threshold concerns an individual diamond. A pair of earrings totaling half a carat is a different configuration from one half-carat center stone. Ask which report accompanies the exact piece, rather than making an assumption from the total weight.

At Brilliant Earth, check the report for the loose center diamond you select. For either seller, a grading report helps establish identity and quality information. It does not decide whether you prefer the design, fit or price.

Inspection: what can you learn before paying?

Brilliant Earth's individual-stone tools are more useful when you want to compare diamond appearance in detail. Use the actual media with the report and measurements. If the listing shows only a sample image, ask for the information needed to judge the stone.

Pandora's product photographs help you choose the design and its scale, but they do not let you select between a set of individually listed stones. For a small pendant or everyday earrings, trying the finished item may be the more useful part of the decision.

In a store, look at the piece from more than one angle and away from the strongest display lighting. Check the setting, the way it sits and whether you like the overall proportions. For earrings, compare the pair and the fastening as well as the sparkle.

A higher clarity grade is not automatically the most useful place to spend more. We would first look for a diamond whose appearance we like in a well-proportioned piece. Our grading guide explains the terminology if the report is unfamiliar.

Settings, metals and everyday wear

A setting can be the reason to choose either seller. Pandora's finished designs make it easy to think about coordinated jewelry and the look of the whole piece. Brilliant Earth's setting search gives you more ways to explore how an individually selected center stone could be worn.

Compare the actual metals. A sterling-silver pendant and a solid-gold pendant are different purchases, even if their diamond weights are close. With rings, ask about band width, setting height and whether a wedding band can sit comfortably beside the design.

A low-profile setting may be appealing for regular wear. An open or sculptural design may appeal for its shape. Rather than infer comfort from a close-up, try the piece or ask for the relevant measurements.

For a gift, choose a design the recipient is likely to wear. Their usual metal color, ring size and existing jewelry give you better clues than the largest diamond available within the budget. Keep the receipt and confirm the item's return status before deciding to personalize it.

Brilliant Earth vs. Pandora prices: compare the whole piece

A Pandora finished ring is not directly comparable to a loose Brilliant Earth diamond. Add the setting and compare the actual designs before treating a difference in the displayed prices as a saving.

Even two completed rings with the same listed carat weight may differ in metal, construction, grade ranges, accent stones and services. Those differences can justify a different total, depending on what you value.

Our Pandora review includes dated US price examples from September 2026. The Brilliant Earth review includes separate loose-diamond and jewelry research. These were not an identical-ring test between the two sellers, so we would not use them to declare a current percentage premium or a universal cheaper option.

For a useful comparison, ask:

  • What is included? Is this the whole ring, a setting alone or a loose stone?
  • How is the diamond weight divided? Is it one center stone, a pair of earrings or a total including smaller accents?
  • Are the metals and settings comparable? Match the metal, design and practical features that matter to you.
  • What is the payable total? Include applicable offers, tax and delivery, and check whether a promotion changes return eligibility.

We are comfortable paying for a design we prefer. Pandora's appeal may be the precise setting and the ability to try it locally; Brilliant Earth's may be a preferred center stone, a different setting and appointment help. Those benefits should be considered with the quote.

If your only aim is the largest possible diamond, this design-led comparison may not settle the purchase. Our one-carat price guide can provide further context, but it should not replace a quote for the jewelry you intend to buy.

Stores, appointments and gifts

Use the Brilliant Earth store directory or Pandora store finder to plan a visit. Ask what can be shown, especially at Pandora: a nearby store is only useful for this decision if it carries the lab-grown diamond collection and the relevant design.

For Brilliant Earth, bring a shortlist of settings and questions about the diamond. An appointment is a chance to compare width, height, fit and the appearance of different shapes. Confirm whether the display piece matches the configuration you would order.

For Pandora, try the finished jewelry and compare available sizes or weight options. If a gift is involved, ask for a gift receipt and establish what the recipient could exchange or return.

Production and stock status matter at both. A delivery service describes transit after dispatch; it does not guarantee the entire purchase can be completed in that time. Check the expected arrival of the exact item and allow time to inspect it before an important occasion.

Sourcing and sustainability: compare specific claims

Both brands publish information worth reading. Pandora's lab-grown diamond disclosure says its lab-grown diamond jewelry crafted since August 2022 uses diamonds grown, cut and polished with renewable electricity and recycled silver and gold. It explains the role of renewable-energy certificates and has added carbon-footprint information. Some older Infinite stock has a different sourcing history, so ask about the particular piece.

Brilliant Earth's 2025 Mission Report describes different lab-diamond programs, including Renewable, Capture and Sustainably Rated collections. Check which applies to the stone you select; a collection's attributes should not be extended to every listing.

For a useful comparison, ask whether a claim describes the diamond alone, its finishing, the metal or the whole piece. A renewable-electricity claim and an emissions-offset claim are different. Carbon-footprint figures also need matching boundaries before they can support a comparison.

We have not measured the environmental impact of two equivalent completed pieces. Our reason to value these disclosures is that they give the buyer specific questions to investigate, alongside the design and quality of the jewelry.

Returns and aftercare: check the exact item

For US purchases, Brilliant Earth's standard policy offers eligible 30-day returns from the date the order is available for shipment or pickup, using its free insured process. Custom, altered and resized items have exclusions. Check the ring's resizing eligibility before making changes.

Pandora's US returns FAQ allows eligible unused items in original condition within 30 days of purchase, with the invoice. Its prepaid return route is free; original shipping is not refunded. Final-sale purchases are excluded, and promotional terms can differ.

A reduced price is less attractive if you are unsure about the design and cannot return it. Before buying a gift or a ring in an uncertain size, ask whether a refund or exchange will be available for that item.

Holiday check, November 7, 2026: Pandora's US help article lists purchases beginning November 2, 2026 for returns or exchanges through January 24, 2027. Confirm eligibility on the order; an extension does not make a final-sale item returnable.

Aftercare should be a practical question rather than a reason to assume every repair will be free. Ask about the exact piece, sizing limits and the support available if a setting or fastening needs attention.

Our verdict: choose the buying process that fits the jewelry

We would start with Brilliant Earth for an individually chosen engagement-ring diamond and a broader setting search. Its tools and showroom options give you more control while building the complete ring.

We would choose Pandora when we preferred the finished design and were happy with its specific options, paperwork and price. Our own purchases are a reason to take that offer seriously. Its small-stone card should not be used to dismiss the independent grading available for larger diamonds.

Common questions about Brilliant Earth and Pandora

Are Pandora lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. They are diamonds, rather than cubic zirconia. Check that the item is specifically from Pandora's lab-grown diamond collection, since its wider jewelry range uses other stones too.

Does Pandora provide IGI reports?

Larger stones can come with IGI reports. IGI's Pandora partnership announcement identifies stones of 0.50 carat and above, and Pandora's Infinite listing supports that threshold. Our smaller purchase had a Pandora card with ranges. Ask about the report for the exact piece.

Is Brilliant Earth better for an engagement ring?

It would be our first stop if we wanted to choose an individual center stone and compare settings. A Pandora ring can still suit an engagement if you prefer its finished design, fit and specifications.

Which retailer is cheaper?

There is no useful universal answer across their catalogs. Compare complete pieces with comparable metals, diamond weights and designs. The separate examples in our reviews are dated research, rather than an identical-ring test of today's prices.

Is Pandora Brilliance the same as Brilliance.com?

No. Pandora's diamond range was previously known as Brilliance. Brilliance.com and Grown Brilliance are separate retailers. This article concerns Pandora's lab-grown diamond jewelry.

How we made this comparison

We used the existing Brilliant Earth and Pandora reviews, including original Pandora purchases, store photographs and paperwork; Brilliant Earth's earlier purchase-and-return research; and later checks of diamond information, service and policies. The Brilliant Earth showroom images are from November 2023. Other older images and screenshots are labeled as earlier research, rather than current prices or inventory.

No new purchase, store visit or identical-diamond price test is implied. We checked the linked US policy and product sources on November 7, 2026, including Pandora's larger-stone grading information. The scores are the ratings in our full reviews, not a new combined comparison score.

Klaus Thorup prepared this article using the site's existing evidence, including review research originally contributed by Rolf Hartmann. Our editorial process explains the assessment criteria, and the disclosure above explains retailer-link funding.
